A native speaker in your pocket

Are you a Travelinguist?

-Always on the go?

When you’re home you’re no less busy than when you’re traveling. You aren’t going to slow down to study an hour a day when all you really want is a few key phrases. But you do want to be able to ask “Where’s the bathroom?” and “How much are those shoes?”

-Like to travel light?

With the luggage restrictions and the pain of carrying so much  stuff, why add to it with phrase books, CDs you’ll never get to use, or a separate translator toy when you can just carry your phone?

-Want to go native?

OK. So, you aren’t going to be fluent for a ten day trip. But you still want to make an effort. Why? Because it’s polite and trying will make them love you and when people love you, they do nice things for you.

-Independent and self-sufficient?

Do you really want to have to ask your friend to ask the waiter where the bathroom is? Maybe once, but thirty times? You’re a take charge person used to doing what you like. Don’t take a back seat to the teenager on the trip, take control by having access to the key words and phrases you need, when you need them. Be assertive, it’s your nature.

-You’re smart

You’d rather spend your money on another plane, train, or automobile than an $80 or $800 course that’s overkill for what you need. You’re not moving there after all, you’re just passing through and want to make the most of your time.
